I have been working on painting the outside of our house and as I work I have been wondering about the young adults that we will be serving through Soaring Wings Ministries. Have you ever spent anytime thinking about homeless people? Have you ever wondered what circumstances in life have brought them to homelessness? I have been thinking about this a lot lately and have been trying to give faces to these young adults. I wonder how old they will be. I wonder what their dreams and hopes are. I wonder if they will have ever had a family that loved and cared for them. I wonder if they may still have a family who loves and care about them. I wonder what job skills they have. I wonder what they will be interested in. I wonder if they will be shy or outgoing. I wonder what their backgrounds are. I wonder if they will be honest or deceitful. I wonder if they will have children. I wonder. I wonder. I wonder. Maybe it will be a young woman who has never had a family that cared about her. Maybe it will be a young man with a wife and children who can't find a job. Maybe it will be a single Mom or Dad who doesn't know how to juggle working and caring for her kids. Maybe it will be someone who has never held down a job. Maybe it will be someone who had a fantastic job and lost it. Maybe it will be someone just out of the military who is struggling to get on their feet. The circumstances that lead people to be homeless are many and once again I am led to think about Ed's statement about helping people....."It isn't rocket science". No matter what their circumstance, no matter what their age, interest, talent skills, personality, hopes or dreams.......all people need love and care. People do not do well without someone to love them and care for them. We all need to know that someone has our back. Just think about the young adults you know who have gone through a difficult time and ended up living back home for a while to get themselves back on their feet. Now think about what would have happened to these young adults if they did not have a caring family to help them. Homelessness. It happens so quickly, easily and it doesn't take "rocket science" to help them. It takes time, money, love and care. So if you are "wondering" what we will be doing to help these young adults at "Soaring Wings" don't think about rocket science, just think about what people really need.....shelter, food, love, care, guidance and prayer. That is what we will be doing at Soaring Wings. I need to get back to my house painting............I wonder who will be living at Soaring Wings.....a young woman.....a young man.....what will they look like.......will they have children??? I wonder. I paint. I wonder. I paint. I wonder. I wonder. I wonder.

It does not matter who wonders into your life at Soaring Wings or for what reason past or present. They will be sent to you to guide along life's path. You and Ed have all the skills you need to do the job you have been asked to do. You will balance love, nurturing, fun, silliness, boundary setting and faith beautifully! You will also reap the rewards of your work 10 fold! Love, Jan
