THERE IS A BACKHOE IN OUR YARD!!

At the beginning of this year, back in January, Meredith, Ed and I had a staff meeting and the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the direction of Soaring Wings Ministries for 2017.   It was unanimous.....this was the year that we wanted to start building the addition for a homeless family.  There was no discussion as to what else we wanted to have happen at Soaring Wings Ministries in 2017.   Building the addition was first and foremost on all three of our minds and hearts.   We were more than ready to have our vision for Soaring Wings Ministries become a reality.

The rest of the meeting was spent planning how we were going to make the addition happen this year.
We all agreed that as much as we wanted to see the addition go up we did not want to take out a loan for the building.  Our goal was to pay cash for the addition.   We had some funds specifically set aside for the addition in our building fund ; however, it was not enough to see the project through from beginning to end, but with a little more money we could have the excavating work completed and have the foundation poured.

We needed something, beyond the fundraising events that we had done in the past, to raise the funds for the addition.  We needed investors who would be willing to give beyond what they might ordinarily give.  We decided to have a Building Fund Drive to raise $31,100.00.   Meredith put together a Building Fund Drive packet and it was sent out to everyone on our mailing list.  If you are on our mailing list, you probably remember getting a brochure with the building plans and a description of the addition.   The packet included a turquoise envelope which investors could use to respond to Soaring Wings Ministries Building Fund Drive.  We sent out the packet with prayers and left the rest in the Lord's hands.

All I can say is that we are forever grateful and humbled by those of you that returned the turquoise envelope with an investment for the addition.  Those that responded, we know personally, and we know that they gave sacrificially to the Building Fund Drive.  Our hope for the addition grew with each investor that was willing to invest in the addition and in the life of a homeless family here at Soaring Wings Ministries.

While the Building Fund Drive was in progress, Meredith and Ed, got to work getting quotes from different companies for the excavation work and for the foundation.  They contacted businesses in the area and received several quotes for the work.  Some quotes were good and others were beyond what we could even consider.   We were  ready to make a decision on the bids as to which companies we would use but had not yet signed a contract with anyone.   While we were considering which company to use, God was a work.  God is our number one investor in the building of the addition and as an investor He was getting ready to save Soaring Wings  Ministries thousands of dollars.

How exactly does God in heaven guide our steps here on earth to save us thousands of dollars?  Literally, God guided our steps when Ed and I decided to go for a walk in Wellington.   We had completed our errands and decided a walk downtown would be a nice break.  Before we walked I stopped in one of the convenience stores to use the restroom.  Ed waited for me outside reading the local postings on the bulletin board.  He found a business card posted on the bulletin board from a local excavating company in Wellington.  Ed called them when we returned home and a few days later received a quote from them that was $4,000.00 cheaper than the company that we were about to use for the excavation work!!!!  Praise God! We don't walk through this process alone!  Our trust in God has always been 100 percent and He has proven his faithfulness over and over again.

Literally, as I sit here at our computer writing this blog, the men have arrived to complete the excavation work.  The backhoe is getting fired up and at the end of the day we will have a hole dug, ready for the foundation to be poured! God is faithful! God is powerful! God is involved in the Building Fund Drive here at Soaring Wings Ministries!

To date we have received $13,881  from our investors for our Building Fund Drive.  This is enough to get the addition started and we are able to pay for the excavation and the foundation with cash. No debt!  We still need more funds to complete the addition so a homeless family can move in, but we are moving forward and taking steps as God guides, blesses and provides the funds.

Exciting things are happening here at Soaring Wings Ministries!   We praise God for His blessing and faithfulness and we are so very grateful to all of you who support Soaring Wings Ministries with your prayers and financially support.  Just so you know that all donations that are sent to Soaring Wings Ministries go directly to the ministry.  Ed and I do not receive any income from Soaring Wings Ministries and Meredith raises her own support.  We strive to be faithful stewards of your donations by paying cash for all expenses.

Our Building Fund Drive is still in progress and you still have the opportunity to become part of this amazing journey for a homeless family out here on the plains in Colorado.  You can send your investment  to Soaring Wings Ministries 499 Trinity Lane Wellington, Colorado 80549 or you can also go to Pay Pal on this website.

I thought the best way to close this blog would be to include a picture of the backhoe in action digging the hole for the Soaring Wings Ministries addition.  This is where a homeless family will live!  We are moving forward and as we move forward we trust God every step of the way.  Our motto for Soaring Wings Ministries is HOPE IN ACTION and I truly believe that is what this backhoe in action represents...HOPE IN ACTION for a homeless family out here in Northern Colorado.

Blessings to all of you,
