Weather affects us all! We plan for this Hurricane Sandy to hit us by getting batteries, flash lights, bringing in outside furniture and the list goes on and on. But what if you were homeless, how do you prepare your child the day before for a storm that is going to be rough. How do you prepare for a storm that is going to have winds of over 70 mph when your house is a card board box? My parents are preparing and working hard to help provide a safe cozy home for the homeless in Colorado. To have a place where they will learn how to prepare for life's storms; the weather and/or life situations. We all have storms in our lives; someone loses a job, gets sick, maybe even passes away but with the right preparing and support we learn to adjust. We learn who to lean on and who to ask for help. It is hard to think that in times of life's big storms that some people have no one. No family, friends, and no one to care for them. Today at church our pastor preached on Bartimaeus, the blind man who shouts out "Have mercy on us, Son of David." We have all heard homeless people asking for money or begging for money but what if that just code for have mercy on me. Show me that I am precious in God's eyes, show me that someone still thinks I am worth something, show me that God love's me! I hope that during this storm that is hitting the East Coast that the homeless are safe and that they feel loved by God's people. I continue to pray for my parents as they prepare to go to Colorado to offer hope to the homeless and offer a safe home for the ones that now are homeless. In God's Love, Meredith Peters
