It quite often happens that a word, phrase or thought keeps coming into my life. As a Christian I believe that this is one of the ways that God guides me, teaches me, and speaks to me. This past week and particularly today the thought has been about God's power. I attend a Women's Bible Study on Tuesday afternoons and this week we were studying how we have access to God's power through the Holy Spirit. This power is the same power that raised Christ from the dead. AMAZING! This power is given to us so that we can boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have to confess I do not tap into this power as completely as I should. I realized that just like the electricity that is available to us we have to plug into it to make use of it. The word "power" also came across my life today in a Joel and Victoria Osteen devotional that my sister, Marcia, sent to me. The devotional was titled "The Greatest of His Power". The devotional stated that the power of God is available to us only when we believe. If we doubt, question or do not believe in Jesus then we do not have access to this incomparable great power (Ephesians 1: 19). The Joel Osteen devotional asked the question "Has God placed a dream in your heart that seems impossible? If you will choose to believe, then His strength will rise up in you. His ability will supersede your ability, and the greatness of His power will bring to pass every dream and desire He has placed within you!". WOW! Clearly God has placed in our hearts a dream to give the homeless young adults in Colorado a home. It does seem like an impossible dream to me sometimes, but as a Christian I believe in Jesus, I believe that His strength and power will enable us to bring this dream into a reality and His power will guide us along the way! Without Jesus in our lives Soaring Wings Ministries would not even be a glimmer of thought in our minds. Without Jesus we can do nothing but with Jesus He will make an impossible dream a reality. I believe this with all my heart and being.
As I was washing the dinner dishes tonight I was thinking about the Bible Verse from Isaiah 40:28-31 which is the verse that we have claimed for Soaring Wings Ministries. It says, "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint." Now, I have read this verse so many times, but as I was doing the dishes the word "power" stood out in my mind. I realized for the first time that these tired youth that will be living at Soaring Wings will have their power increased when they hope in the Lord. I pray that Soaring Wings Ministries will be bold in declaring the love of God, the power of Jesus to defeat sin and death and to teach that this incomparable power is available to those who believe in Jesus. If you are reading this and would like to know more about the love of Jesus and power of God to save lives then please let us know. We would consider it an honor to tell you all about it!
